As part of its campaign “ Europe’s missing € 1000 billion every year: we want it back” the European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU) coordinates a European tax justice week of actions 17-23 June to make the rich and transnational corporations pay their fair share of taxes.

Turkish unions launch general strike as government repression intensifies

PSI pledges its full support to the general strike called by five major trade union centres and professional organisations on 17 June 2013. PSI joins the ITUC and other global unions in calling on the Turkish government to immediately end police brutality, to respect these protests and trade union actions, and to enter into dialogue to address the legitimate concerns expressed.

Seven months after their arrest, 15 female Turkish unionists are still in jail, accused of belonging to a terrorist organisation. On October 4 a hearing began in Ankara, and pickets and demonstrations took place at many Turkish embassies and consulates.
