ILO Experts Meeting on Unions’ Action to Promote Decent Work for Persons with Disabilities

PSI will be participating in this ILO conference on "Decent Work for Persons with Disabilities". The conference aims to disseminate research and raise awareness on inclusion of persons with disabilities and the relation between this and decent work. The conference will be looking to identify ways forward for both trade unions and the ILO itself.

This groundbreaking conference, organised by PSI with the support of ILO/ACTRAV and ILO/GED, marked the beginning of a new area of collaboration. PSI in partnership with the ILO explored the issue of workers with disabilities with a special focus on the role of the public sector and public services.

UN Commission: New Investments in Global Health Workforce Will Create Jobs and Drive Economic Growth

PSI General Secretary Rosa Pavanelli joins the Presidents of France and South Africa calling for urgent public investments globally to create new jobs in the health sector in order to prevent a projected shortfall of 18 million health workers primarily in low- and lower-middle-income countries, and help countries to maximize the social and economic benefits of increased health employment.

This policy brief on Sustainable Development Goals was produced for the PSI Executive Board EB-148 held at the ILO in Geneva (Switzerland) on 19-20 May 2016. Its objective is to inform EB-148 of activities in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Financing for Development (FfD) since EB-147, that took place in Geneva (Switzerland) in May 2015, and to inform EB-148 of proposed action on SDGs/FfD for 2016. The brief is available in English, French, Spanish, German, Swedish and Japanese.
