This research publication by the Public Services International Research Unit reveals that the private sector investments in water and sanitation have been negligible, whether in OECD or in developing countries. Public finance and public management is responsible for the vast majority of new connections in the past 20 years, despite the pressure from the development banks and OECD countries.
