PSI welcomes the adoption of the UN Global Compact on Migration

Led by PSI General Secretary Rosa Pavanelli, PSI came to Marrakesh with a 45-member strong trade union delegation. In addition to participating in the Adoption Conference, PSI organised a Strategy workshop and participated in the civil society days of the Global Forum on Migration and Development, the Peoples Global Action and in the Global Unions Forum on Migration. On the eve of the Adoption Conference, PSI also organized a side event to promote a Stakeholders' Dialogue on Health Worker Migration and the Global Skills Partnerships, with the support of EPSU, WHO, FES and the German Federal Government.

PSI Global Labour Remunicipalisation Workshop (Geneva)

PSI Executive Board 153 Communiqué

The PSI Executive Board (EB) 153 met on 14-15 November 2018 – the first regular Executive Board meeting since PSI World Congress, in November 2017 in Geneva. After voicing strong concerns about the rise of right wing populism around the world, the meeting heard a full report of global and regional activities, decided on further priorities and activities and welcomed 21 new affiliates.

31 October: UN World Cities Day – “Stop precarious work in local public services!”

On UN World Cities Day 2018, PSI calls the United Nations, governments and mayors to halt the widespread use of precarious work in local and regional government services that hurts local communities, undermines the quality and accessibility of local public services, and stands in the way of achieving sustainable, inclusive and resilient cities (SDG11).
