PSI mourns death and destruction left by Cyclone Idai

PSI is devastated and heartbroken at the death and destruction caused by tropical Cyclone Idai which roared into Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi on 14-15 March. Over 500 people have so far been confirmed dead, but the death toll is feared to be much higher as affected areas continue to receive news of more casualties.

PSI mourns death of former Deputy General Secretary, Alan Leather

PSI is deeply saddened by the death of former Deputy General Secretary, Alan Leather who died on 3 March 2019, after a long illness. Alan will be sorely missed. His death is a personal blow to many people around the world, the international trade union community will remember his name for years to come.

World of Work meeting (New Zealand)

2017 marked the end of the 2012 congress mandate and a significant period of challenge for PSI affiliates and rebuilding for PSI. PSI’s 2017 Congress endorsed the comprehensive Programme of Action (PoA), a wide range of affiliates’ resolutions and a revised constitution. Together, these texts identify the major challenges for public service workers and their unions; they set out the position of PSI in relation to these challenges and approve a wide range of actions that build on the mandate and work of the previous five years.
