Young workers from the Inter-American region plan their work for 2014/2015

PSI regional young workers’ committee for Inter-America
The PSI regional young workers’ committee for Inter-America was held in Guatemala City from 24 to 25 March 2014. The members drew up their regional work plans for the following year, giving priority to decent work and employment issues.

The young workers analysed the ILO report Trabajo decente y juventud en América Latina: políticas para la acción (Decent work and youth in Latin America: policies for action), and adopted strategies to improve communication among young worker representatives and through the network.

The PSI regional young workers’ committee made numerous suggestions to PSI regional management concerning young workers’ participation in the next Inter-American Regional Conference (IAMRECON) that will be taking place in April 2015. All the proposals were unanimously adopted at the IAMREC meeting.  Carrying out the committee meeting in Guatemala has strengthened the solidarity bonds among the young trade unionists in the region and the young leaders of Guatemala who are facing the challenge to continue the struggle for workers’ rights in the most dangerous country in the world for trade union activity.
