Video: Greek journalists occupy public broadcast stations

06 January, 2014

Greek journalists occupy public broadcast stations

Members of the PSI-EPSU Communicators' Action Network, an expert team of international labour journalists, recorded the last inside interviews with workers occupying Greek public broadcast stations, before the government violently raided and evicted the workers in early November 2013.

All 2,500 workers at Greece's public broadcasting network, ERT, were laid off under austerity measures in June. For the following five months, journalists, technicians, musicians, news editors and support staff occupied the facilities and continued, unpaid, to provide 24-hour news coverage to Greek citizens. Hear their stories in the final hours before the police and soldiers arrived.
