Public Services International joined the delegation of the Global Unions in the UN Civil Society Hearings on Migration and Development held 15 July 2013 at the United Nations headquarters in New York. The hearings were part of the lead-up process to the UN General Assembly High Level Dialogue on Migration and Development that will take place 3-4 October 2013 in New York.

The year 2012 was the culmination of the fourth phase of the PSI Migration and Women Health and Social Care Workers Project implemented in Ghana, Kenya and South Africa in 2010-2012. The project’s objective was to strengthen the capacity of public service trade unions in addressing the causes, impact and challenges of migration by integrating responses to these migration challenges in their daily trade union work.

Greece: Brain drain as 120,000 professionals leave amid crisis

Greece's sky-high unemployment and shrinking economy are leading to significant brain drain, a new study has found. The number of young scientists leaving Greece has become very high, as more professionals abandon their homeland for better opportunities abroad. According to the study, the number of young scientists who emigrate has reached 10 percent of the country’s potential.
