A big earthquake hit the towns of Accumoli, Amatrice, and the village of Pescara del Tronto amongst others in the very early hours of 24 August 2016.

Suicide attack at hospital in Pakistan

On 8 August, a suicide bomber targeted the emergency services ward at Quetta’s Civil Hospital in Pakistan situated near PSI’s affiliate the All Pakistan Labour Federation (APLF) and the Pakistan Central Mines Labour Federation office. At least 70 people were killed and over 100 others were injured.

Ecuador earthquake: Solidarity call for aid

Ecuador Earthquake

Following the devastating earthquake that took place in Ecuador on 16 April, PSI is calling on all affiliates to donate to the PSI Ecuador Relief Fund. The funds will be used for the immediate relief and assistance of our members, to help rebuild infrastructure and to halt the repressive labour policies ensuring that workers and trade unions can participate in the rebuilding of public services.

All Pakistan Labour Federation condemns the deaths of mine workers and demands judicial inquiry

At least 10 workers were killed and 30 were seriously injured at Al-Hussaini Coal Mine, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. According to APLF, 65 workers were inside the mine when it collapsed due to torrential rains.

Hospitals and schools are being targeted in Syria in breach of international regulations

Air raids on five hospitals and two schools, on Monday, February 15th, in separate locations in northern Syria killed at least 50 people and left dozens others wounded. Five patients, a caretaker and a hospital guard are among the casualties in a hospital supported by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
