PSI Deputy General Secretary David Boys addressed a candlelight vigil on 7 June in Seoul in front of 10,000 people who gathered to honour of the victims of the Sewol ferry tragedy which killed 300 high school students.

Union and civil society activists presented to the grieving parents stacks of signed petitions calling for an honest and in-depth investigation into the root causes of the tragedy. Boys called on Korea to cease the development model which treats workers as mere commodities, without rights, and many without lives.
