ILO Director General meets with SNAPAP union representatives in Algeria

ILO Director-General Guy Ryder met with trade union respresentatives, including PSI affiliate SNAPAP, on 16th April, during his visit to Algeria for the 40th Arab Labour Conference in Algiers.
The unions presented the difficulties they face every day, such as:
- the government's refusal to register trade unions
- government interference in union business
- instrumentalisation of the justice system by the government, to prevent legitimate strike action
- intimidation of union delegates, including dismissal for trade union activity.
