Bachelet calls on PSI to fight for an ILO resolution on the elimination of violence against women at work

Before an audience of more than 140 women members of the PSI, the President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, called on the organisation to continue fighting for approval of an ILO resolution on the elimination of violence against women at the workplace and in public employment.

Asia Pacific Forum on trade union rights: It is time for ACTION NOW!

The Asia Pacific Regional Forum on Trade Union rights will come up with an Action Plan for the region for 2015. PSI affiliate leaders will share experience on campaigns for freedom of association, collective bargaining and the right to strike. Special attention will be devoted to the impact of privatisation and precarious forms of employment in the public sector, fire-fighters’ right to organise and campaigning for the ratification and implementation of international labour standards.

Founding Meeting PSI Educational Support and Cultural Workers Network

PSI affiliates represent hundreds of thousands of educational support and cultural workers throughout the world, many of whom work without job security, fair compensation and benefits, or recognition that their services are vital to ensuring high quality public education and culture for all citizens. The jobs of these workers are on the frontlines of the privatization and casualization struggle within the education and cultural sector, and many of them face challenges in pursuing their basic freedom to form a union and collectively bargain their terms and conditions of service.

PSI Global Trade in Services forum

PSI’s Global Trade in Services Forum, From GATS to TISA, held in partnership with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) and the Our World Is Not For Sale (OWINFS) network, is the first ever global conference to provide a critical perspective on the TISA.

It will bring together leading global experts, trade unions from the public and private sector, civil society and government representatives from around the world to share information about the TISA. They will discuss the threats posed to public services, democracy and workers, and plan action to oppose its harmful elements.

Chile: Struggle for social justice

Struggle to eliminate violence against women in the workplace

On 9-10 October, Michelle Bachelet, President of Chile, and over 100 PSI women, came together in Santiago de Chile to discuss the eradication of violence against women in the workplace and in public employment.

12th PSI Regional Conference for Africa and Arab countries - postponed

It is with regret that we inform you that PSI has been forced to postpone the planned Regional Conference for Africa and Arab countries (AFRECON 2014).

We have been notified that the Ministry of Health in Botswana is now refusing to issue visas, even to citizens from countries which have been affected by individual imported cases of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).

Caribbean young workers solidarity visit to Haïti
