Public Services International hosted this forum as an official side event of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, Switzerland. Participants discussed how corruption undermines public services and democracy. Corruption wastes public money by diverting it into the hands of corrupt politicians, businesses and their agents.

Ending corruption requires public and political organising to demand that governments represent public interests, instead of rich individuals and powerful companies, and to hold them accountable. Public Services International and our affiliates fight for decent and fair remuneration of our members and against the privatisation of public services, which is an open door to corruption when private companies enter the picture. We advocate for strong laws and regulations to help end corruption, better protection for whistle-blowers, and public audit and control bodies that are fully independent.
