Tunisia: PSI condemns the assassination of Chokri Belaid

In a letter addressed to President Marzouki, PSI has expressed its revolt and consternation after the assassination of Chokri Belaid, opposition political leader who spent his life fighting for democracy, liberty and social justice. Chokri Belaid was a partner in the trade union movement and an insipiration for all Tunisians.

PSI supports all those in Tunisia who have chosen a peaceful democracy in their country. PSI calls upon the Tunisian authorities to hold an enquiry into the assassination of Chokri Belaid and bring the murderers to justice.

PSI supports UGTT during the day of general strike on 8 February 2012.
