On 11 October 2016 in Abuja, Nigeria, PSI affiliates from Nigeria, Ghana and Sierra Leone launched the Nigeria National Report, Pre-Decision and Information Kit, Passport to Workers’ Rights and Migrant Desk Posters within the PSI Project on Decent Work and Social Protection for Migrant Workers in the Public Services.

PSI delegation visits an internally displaced persons camp in Nigeria

A delegation of PSI staff and trade union affiliate leaders from Ghana, Sierra Leone and Nigeria visited an internally displaced persons (IDPs) camp in Durumi Disitrict in Abuja, Nigeria. The delegation was able to assess the situation on the ground and had first hand interaction with the community.

In a letter sent to Antonio Guterres of Portugal, who was elected on 7 October as secretary-general of the United Nations, American Federation of Teachers (AFT) President Randi Weingarten noted his humanitarian work as the U.N. high commissioner for refugees and his support for Portuguese workers and their labor rights as prime minister of Portugal.
