Tax Justice Forum: How to spread that wealth around

Date:
6 June, 2016
Time:
13.00 - 14.30
Location:
Geneva, Switzerland, Palais des Nations, Room XII
Event type:
Region:
At a time when inequality is rising and public services are being cut, the Panama Papers have shone a new light on corporate accountability. We are looking for new ways to fund development - tax policy has never been more relevant.

This joint PSI - ITF - ActionAid event will explore how tax avoidance undermines workers' rights, weakens economic development, enables corruption and redistributes wealth from the very poorest to the extremely rich. The forum will also discuss state capture and tax avoidance and the critical importance of protecting whistleblowers and those who stand up against corruption.

Speakers include:

  • Rosa Pavanelli, PSI General Secretary
  • Tom Powdrill, ITF
  • A representative of UITOC - Union Red de Trabajadores
  • Ruth Kelly, ActionAid

Interpretation will be available in English, French and Spanish.
