Sponsor a participant to the PSI World Congress

This Congress Sponsorship Fund is aimed at ensuring more equity, diversity and democracy in representation at Congress. It will also enable PSI to strengthen the participation of young people and women at a Congress that takes place in the midst of unprecedented economic and financial crises. Many governments, prodded by neo-liberal and financial interests, have answered the global crisis through austerity measures, dismantling public services and undermining achievements of the social welfare state. This is an ideological battle, and our PSI Durban Congress will confront it concretely with a focused Programme of Action concentrating on four main areas:
• Confronting the real crisis and rebuilding social solidarity
• Asserting the rights of public sector workers
• Building union influence and achieving quality public services
• Union action in a globalised world
PSI appeals to our affiliates, where possible, to make a gesture of solidarity and fund or co-fund a delegate from a member union that might be unable to afford participation. According to PSI calculations, the average participation of a fully-sponsored delegate will cost about 2,800€.
All potential candidates must fulfil a number of criteria (see attachment below) that have been approved by the EB. Nominations are to be made through the formal nominations process via the PSI constituencies and regions.
If you have any questions, please contact PSI’s deputy general secretary Alexandre.Kamarotos@world-psi.org.
