23 February 2016
Strikers in Morocco
The Moroccan trade union movement has decided to hold a general strike on 24 February because of the non-compliance of the government to its commitments on social dialogue and its violations of freedom of association.

The Moroccan Labour Union (UMT), the Democratic Labour Confederation (CDT), the Democratic Labour Federation (FDT), the General Union of Workers of Morocco (UGTM) and the National Union of Higher Education (SNESup) denounce the government’s anti-social policies, the increase in the cost of living and the loss of purchasing power of workers and citizens.

Public Services International expresses its solidarity with the trade unions in Morocco and fully supports their demands.

PSI has addressed a protest letter to the Moroccan government (in French) urging them to enter into dialogue with the unions in order to reach an agreement.
