Civil society, community-based groups and unionists supported by Public Services International have petitioned the House of Assembly, asking it to step on the brakes on plans by the Lagos State government to embark on a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model of water privatisation.

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), the umbrella organisation for trade unions in Nigeria, joined hands from 8-14 April 2016 during the global week of action to demand for the safe return of the abducted Chibok school girls. Public Services International’s eight Nigerian unions are affiliated to the NLC.

The wife of the Executive Director of the Environmental Rights Action (ERA), Godwin Ojo, who was kidnapped on February 22, has been released. ERA is an important PSI partner in the campaign against water privatization in the country.

Climate change: Towards and Beyond COP21

The solutions to the climate challenge require a substantive transformation of the current socio-economic development paradigm, including industrial change. This is not just about some technical changes to energy production or transport systems. What is required is a redefinition of the predominant model of production and consumption. We must give back to the state and public services their role in supporting our communities, and ensure that workers and trade unions are able to participate fully in all steps of this process.
