Call for a day of action in Ireland - 9 February 2013

Ireland is shouldering the biggest bank debt burden in the European Union.
The Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) is organising a rally on 9th February, calling on the EU to do a deal on Irish bank debt.

Ireland is one of the so-called bailed out countries and workers, particularly public sector workers, have suffered a great deal due to the financial and economic crisis.
Ireland is currently holding the presidency of the EU and is trying to use the opportunity to put pressure on EU institutions and member states. Last year the EU promised to do a deal on bank debt. But nothing has been done. We’ll never have a sustainable recovery without a deal on this unfair debt. That’s why trade unions and others are demanding that the EU keeps its promise. Your voice will help ensure that Europe’s leaders can’t ignore the call for justice.
