A battle for human rights and a Just transition to a green economy

03 December 2015
After negotiations that took place on 2 December, PSI and other unions are uniting against attempts to water down the COP agreement to commit to Human Rights and a Just Transition to a green economy for those who currently work in carbon-intensive industries.

The attempts by Norway and the EU to 'streamline' the text is a threat to workers, minority groups and indigenous people who need to see their rights enshrined in the binding clauses of the agreement.

PSI calls on all delegations involved in the talks to ensure that workers' rights are not forgotten in the transition to a more climate-friendly world.

We request that all affiliates not in Paris put pressure on their respective governments to ensure a reference to Human Rights and a Just Transition is included in the binding text of the agreement.
