Why are we involved?
|

Mathijs Rutten (AbvaKabo FNV, Netherlands): “The influence of young workers is very important, nationally as well internationally. Young people are the future. In PSI Connect we want to learn from each other, share information and encourage all trade unions to
create youth structures.”

Sanja Serdar (Trade Union of State and Local Employees, Croatia): “I am working as a professional officer in the union of State and Local Government Employees of Croatia. For me, it’s important to be a member of the EYF because I want to
exchange experiences with other EYF members and to include young people’s issues in our trade union’s policies and programs.”

Tomas Pagirys (Trade Union of Workers in Services, Lithuania): "Hi, my name is Tomas. I am an air traffic controller in Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania. I've been a trade union member for seven years. With the help of PSI CONNECT you can represent youth of your country, get the latest
information about workers' rights and meet nice people from all over Europe!"

Claudia Petcu (Trade Union Federation SANITAS, Romania): "Hello! I’m a member of the PSI Youth Forum from its foundation and I participated at the drafting of the PSI Youth Charter’s first form. Now I represent the Southeast European Constituency
and I am General Secretary of Romanian Trade Union Federation SANITAS (Health Workers). In my trade union I’m in charge mainly with the organization of youth structures at the trade union organizations’ level in Romania (since 1996). During the last 10 years I have been involved in the organization of youth
structures and I understood that Romanian young people had many special needs they couldn’t solve individually. That is the reason I have decided to involve more in this activity. I have also understood that many of the Romanian young people’s problems were also found in other European countries and for that a good international cooperation would help us to find some solving ways
otherwise hard to find out by ourselves. Romanian young people need a mentality change and I consider that the frequent experience exchanges with the young people in other European countries could help them in this direction."

Åsa Hedlöf (Kommunal, Sweden): "My name is Åsa Hedlöf and I come from the lovely country Sweden. Right now (read February) we have a lot of snow -10, and beautiful sunny weather. I work as assistance for pupils in school. In my free time I like to share the time with my two dogs and spend time with my
friends, travel and experience new places and of course I like go out dancing... I have been active in the trade union for about 10 years. It´s a very interesting and inspiring world. Many opportunities to meet new people and see new cultures. I think that the most important question for the union to survive is: How to get the young people organized and active in the union? Young people are
the voice and the future, let's listen and take care of them!"
