Informations about PSI EYF
|
| |
|
The European Youth Forum (EYF) represents young members of public service unions in Europe. According to the European Regional Constitution the EYF is composed of one titular and one
substitute member from each of the nine constituencies. PSI Constitution requires the EYF to meet at least once a year, but two meetings are current practice. Titulars and substitutes are invited to attend the meetings, eight women and six men, seven from Western Europe and seven from CEE countries.
How does the EYF work?
The EYF works in English only. The members discuss the latest developments of their respective constituencies, exchange experiences and ideas and plan young workers activities sponsored by PSI or by other trade union organisations. These activities are either implemented by the EYF members themselves or by PSI affiliates with
the assistance of the EYF members. There is a special focus on issues such as recruiting young members, building young workers structures within unions, representation of young members in union bodies, HIV/AIDS, training of trainers, etc. information is shared between the EYF and the PSI sub-regional secretaries on planning and implementation of activities in Central and Eastern Europe. A number
of workshops are organized with a combined East-West team of trainers and participants equally from Eastern and Western Europe.
The EYF is currently developing a young public service workers network across Europe, which is called PSI CONNECT. For this purpose, EYF members have created a website http://www.world-psi.org/youngworkers and a contact list of young unionists to which they
send information about young workers issues or events.
To be on the contact list, please contact: Violaine.Roggeri@world-psi.org or Linn.Hemmingsen@fagforbundet.no
